The bioproduct factory is being constructed in Haapavesi, on the site of the former peat power plant, along the shore of Lake Haapajärvi. A comprehensive chemical industry zoning plan has been established for the bioproduct factory operations in the area, which covers 80 hectares.

The location of the bioproduct factory, existing industrial infrastructure, and the significant potential for renewable energy in the surrounding areas provide excellent operating conditions for other industrial actors as well.

Kanteleen Voima, the Swedish company Liquid Wind, and Piipsan Tuulivoima have entered into a cooperation agreement to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of an e-methanol production plant in Haapavesi. The memorandum of understanding initiated cooperation between the parties at the end of 2023, aiming to develop clean energy production solutions for Haapavesi. The project is being developed in parallel with NordFuel’s bioproduct factory.
